More about Bohinj...
Bohinj is divided into the Upper and Lower Bohinj Valley. It is enclosed by the mountains which rise up to 2.000 meters on the south side, and by the Triglav mountain range with Mount Triglav, Slovenia 's highest mountain (2864 m), on the north side (Triglav—in Slovenian: Threehead , named by its three summits).
Due to the beauty of the landscape and its precious natural heritage, a good part of the Bohinj regions has been incorporated in the territory of the Triglav National Park, Slovenia's only national park. The park, which was founded in 1924, and has reached the present size in 1981, includes practically entire Slovenian part of the Julian Alps.
With a total population of around five thousand and its twenty-four villages, Bohinj is a specific remnant of the past rarely found elsewhere.
Bohinj Lakeis four and a half kilometers long and up to 45 meters deep. It is warm enough to swim in the summer while, if the weather permits, it can be a beautiful natural skating ring in the winter.

Access and transportation:
Automobiles: Highways surround Julian Alps, so the valley of Bohinj can be very easily accessed. If you turn off the main road Ljubljana – Jesenice, the road first takes you through the towns of Bled and Bohinjska Bistrica upon which after five kilometers you reach the Bohinj Lake.
Railway: There is a good train connection from Ljubljana or from Nova Gorica (via Jesenice) to the village of Bohinjska Bistrica. Timetable can be provided upon request.
Bus: Bohinj is connected by frequent bus lines with Ljubljana. Busses run almost every hour from early in the morning until the evening. It is possible to reach other villages by local buses from Bohinj.
Airplane: The international airport Brnik (Ljubljana) is 50 km from Bohinj.
